Damp dozen

On 08 Jul 202008 Jul 2020 By geoffspagesIn PhotographyLeave a comment

A dry spell after a morning (and a day!) of rain. There’s more to come, so we’d better get out and stretch our legs. Everything is damp, but there’s no wind and it’s not cold – the afternoon has a pleasantly melancholy feel to it.

Damp horizon
It rained this morning
Barley
Soggy sheep
Mellow mallow
Daisy droplets
Watery buds on the woody nightshade
They're starting to ripen already!
Who needs an umbrella when there are umbellifers?
I like lichen!
Meadow brown: "this'll do for me"
Rings of smoke through the trees

Pound Lane

It’s really quiet this afternoon – no sounds of distant traffic, no little aeroplanes disturbing the peace. Where can they all be? We’re glad to be out of doors, enjoying the unbroken sunshine and the still air until the sun disappears behind the hills. Merry Christmas everyone!

“We can have tea and cake at the youth hostel…” A walk down Pound Lane to Coalport, on a warm afternoon.

Field bindweed
Thistle and hover flies
Wild oats

Windy afternoon…

…but bright and sunny – we’ll have a leg-stretch, but we’d better avoid the hill tops. We follow the lane down to the Severn valley, which is well-sheltered, but mostly in the shade…

Puddles
Across the fields
What a waste!
Crossed wires
Down the hill

Down the lane

Barely a cloud in the sky this afternoon – can’t stay in! A walk down to Coalport will fit the bill – it’ll certainly be worth avoiding the cold wind, though that will mean avoiding the sun too. Can’t have everything!
