We’re on the level! It’s unavoidable, on this walk beside the canal and the mere (“The Mere”!) at Ellesmere, in Shropshire’s lake district. The sun tried, but gave it up as a bad job…

On the tow path
Tunnel (a very short one)
Reflections
Narrowboat decor
Duck and cattle
Should that be growing there?
Three of a kind
Turn left for Llangollen
Ellesmere canal yard
Boat shed
Boat shelter
At Ellesmere wharf
High Street
Street corner
Watergate Street
The Mere
Mereside beeches
Ellesmere and The Mere
It's quiet here
Water lilies and reeds
On the jetty
They pushed the boat out
