Been here once before but at dusk so no entrance into abbey proper~ waled along the path through a little orchard it seemed , next to the ruins but could go no further so never saw these amazing medieval tiles! Brilliant photo!
There’s a small nature reserve in the grounds of the abbot’s house next door to the abbey – but it’s closed at present, while the sale of the house takes place. I guess that’s where you were.
The tiles need wetting to bring out their colour – I have to admit I’ve “wetted” them digitally…
